Choosing between coffee and tea can be like choosing between sweet and savory food. They cannot go together; it is either this or that at a given time.

There are also those people whose religion is either coffee or tea, and they are inconvertible. It can be almost like with olives, some people love them, others despise them. Individuals come from different backgrounds that mold their specific tastes and views.

It is not only about the taste, but the health aspect of foods and beverages is becoming more and more the topic of conversation in these health-orientated times. Which one is healthier – coffee or tea?

So which is better for you?

According to cbn, a popular belief is that tea is a health drink and coffee is bad for you. The good news for coffee lovers is that both tea and coffee have plenty of antioxidants. Antioxidants are chemicals that inhibit the deterioration of cells in your body. Adding antioxidants to your diet will strengthen your immune system and thereby empower it to fight disease.

Benefits of Tea

Most kinds of teas contain flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that helps reduce cholesterol levels, prevent blood clotting, inflammation, and seasonal allergies. Cbn reports that flavonoids also lower the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Green tea has a high concentration of the antioxidant called polyphenols, important in cancer prevention.

Surprise, surprise! Your mug of coffee is also brimming with antioxidants. It is rich in the disease-fighting antioxidant quinine, as well as a source of essential nutrients including niacin, magnesium, B vitamins and potassium. Another piece of good news comes from Dr. Tomas DePaulis, from Vanderbilt University’s Institute for Coffee Studies, who says: “For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good.” Coffee is thought to reduce type 2 diabetes, gout, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and cirrhosis. It improves short-term reaction time and memory.

Since ancient times, coffee has been used to detoxify and cleanse the body, especially the liver, colon and intestines, by using it as the main ingredient in enemas. This method of application may surprise many, but in natural health circles it is known for helping overcoming fatigue, boosting mental energy and even eliminating parasites.
